After all of your great text links are in place there is still on-site SEO to do. Part of a well SEO’d site is creating a site that is fast loading for both real visitors and spiders. However sometimes a site your working on can be slow even after you have done everything correctly. Nine out of ten times the fault will be with your host (even though they will deny responsibility until you can point out to them exactly what is wrong).

I am having this problem with my personal blog Lessnau.com. The site has been slow to load pages for the last two weeks and I have been going back and forth with my dedicated server hosting service on what the problem could be. During this process I found a great website loading analysis tool that points out where the bottlenecks in your site could be. While this has not yet solved my problem, it gives me another tool to help understand the problem.

NOW if someone could just figure it out the site’s problem before I move it from the dedicated server its on to a $3.99 a month Godaddy shared plan…

Once again, today someone asked me if they should buy a few high PR links or a lot of low PR links. The best answer is “it depends” – I guess this is why the best SEOs make amazing money buying links for their clients. I have a nice starter article on high PR links in my article directory that covers some of the things you should consider.

Before you decide on a few high PR links or more low PR links, ask yourself the following questions:

Is your site new?

Is your site older but not indexed very well?

How many one way links do you have now?

What is the range of PR of the pages linking to you?

Do you have lots of natural links?

Are you ranking well for your money keywords or not at all?

Is your site of value and worth linking too?

Is your site making any money?

Do you understand that PR is not the most important metric?

Does your site have a lot to lose, or nothing to lose if your link strategy does not work out?

What is your budget?

Only when you answer the above questions, can you decide on your link buying strategy. As you can see, it is not an easy yes or no question. The best way I can answer is that linking patterns must look natural. If you have a two page MFA site, it is not natural to pick up 3 or 4 high pr links out of the blue.

PR will not be turn off anytime soon on the Google toolbar. Without that little green bar there would be no reason for SEOs and link buyers and link sellers to install it

The Google toolbar is a critical piece of spyware that Google uses to watch the people who they consider competition (text link advertising). “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer”. The toolbar helps keep their enemies very close. Because I don’t want them to know my personal business, I uninstalled the Google toolbar long ago.

If you don’t want Google to have a window into your SEO business, get rid of the their toolbar and check PR with the metrics checker.
