Link Building
Link building is one of the most basic things you need to do besides create a site that someone actually would want to visit and perhaps even bookmark to return later. One thing I have found is most webmaster’s love creating their website but absolutely hate the idea of link building. How many of us more web savvy webmasters have visited a friend’s website who just don’t understand why their website is going nowhere? Normally, you just need to take one look at their backlinks to discover they have seriously neglected link building.
I hear all the time: “but I submitted my site to Google, how come I don’t come up for any searches”. As most of us know, no longer does submitting your site and waiting for traffic work like it did 10 years ago. To have a successful site, you need an ongoing, steady stream of quality text links to your site each month. Without some type of link building effort, your website is bound to fail and remain in Google purgatory. No matter how much you hate the idea of link building, you need to buckle down and do it if you want to have success on the Internet. If not, it’s time to find another way to spend your time and make your money.
I will be writing a series of articles at the LinkAdage blog on a tried and true link building process. The focus of these articles will be on the new webmaster with the brand new site who is trying to get started. Some of the concepts discussed will be quite basic for the experienced webmaster, others will be some of my personal tricks. But for the many new webmasters that come to LinkAdage I think a Link Building tutorial is something I need to have rather than trying to explain the same stuff over and over.
