Location, Location, Location
Below is the LinkAdage Location Power Map and color code key. In general, the higher the number and the darker the red, the better the Link Advertisement location.
If you have any experience buying text link ads, you know that “location” is a very important part of the linking process. With Link Ads there are 3 different types of location:
1. LinkAd WebSite Location2. Inbound Link Location (where the LinkAd is pointing)
3. Physical Link Location
An overlooked but very important location is #3 – the actual on-page location of a link advertisement that is pointing to your web page. Many SEOs believe the location of a link on a page sends a signal to the search engines as to the importance of that link. While the best place for link ad location can vary somewhat from page to page based on content and site layout, there are some general location metrics that you should consider when buying a link. For example, a link located in the main content of a page is more valuable and powerful then a standard footer link.
But what about the rest of the possible locations? All things being equal, the better the location, the more click-throughs you will receive and the greater the importance of the link in the eyes of the search engine algorithms.
