Website Metrics
Web site metrics are an important part of buying LinkAds. Web site metrics will allow you to get a good idea where your potential LinkAd location stand in the web community of sites. LinkAdage Auctions offers several metrics that LinkAd sellers can use to give you a snapshot of the advertising power of their web site.
LinkAdage Auctions™ offers LinkAd sellers four different measurement options.
- Traffic Rank: Traffic rank is supplied by Alexa.com. Surfers that have the Alexa toolbar installed automatically send web surfing statistics back to Alexa. Alexa take the statistics and the compiles them and assigns a site a traffic rank to each web site. Only sites that are somewhat established and get at least a minimum amount of traffic will get a traffic rank. You can get your sites traffic rank by entering your website's URL in the Alexa search box.
- PR: PR is the ranking of a site from one to ten with ten being the best.
- Unique Visitors per month: This is the total unique IP visits to there website in a given month. Sellers will need to supply this from their web site's logs. Buyers, look for sellers willing to forward a snapshot of their monthly visitor logs to you upon sale.
- Link Popularity: Total links as calculate by MarketLeap. MarketLeap totals backlinks to a web site for the top 5 search engines. In general, the more backlinks the better the page.
- Outbound links on LinkAd page:. Outbound links are
the count of distinct domains that are located ON the LinkAd web page.
The fewer distinct domain links on a web page, the more weight many
of the search engines give each link. Being on a page with 100 other
distinct domain links dilutes the value of your link. The fewer distinct
domain outbound links the better.
- Example: If a page has the following links: www.foo.com/red
; www.foo.com/white ; www.foo.com/blue ; www.foo.com/orange ;
www.xyz.com/pinto ; www.xyz.com/gremlin ; www.xyz.com/pacer
That site has 2 outbound links to DISTINCT domains. (www.foo.com & www.xyz.com) - Internal links on LinkAd Page:. Links to other
pages in the site's domain. Some believe the fewer internal links
the better. Internal links are links to other pages within the
the domain from the text link advertisement page. If the there
are more then one internal links point to the exact same page,
that link should only be counted once. The count should be the
total links pointing to different areas within the linkad domain.

- BackLinks:. LinkAdage™ allows sellers to list total backlinks from many different search engines. The more backlinks to a site selling text link advertising the better. Buying advertising on a site that has thousands of backlinks means that the loss of one or two backlinks most likely will not affect the overall strength of a the advertising web page. These counts should be links pointing to the site, not just the page within you are on. This is because a very good inside page may only have one backlink, but that is coming from the website's home page that has thousands of links point to it.
